Some quick updates and reminders:
My newly minted Twitter account has been attempt to expose you to sources that entertain BIG ideas. To some degree, these should be the BIG ideas that provide the foundation for your Semester Projects and outside reading. To that end, here’s a short list of BIG themes or ideas that you might tie to your project and seek out, depending on your personal interest:
- Nature & Environment
- Science & Medicine
- Ethics (the nature of good/evil, right/wrong)
- Government & Politics & Conflict & Globalization
- Economy & Social Class
- Language & Literacy (the purposeful use of language)
- Personal Identity
- Food & Nutrition
*I’m sure there are more, and I’d be happy to add to the list at your suggestion.
As for this week’s classes, we are going to start by scoring your synthesis essays and then deciding, based on those scores, what next steps to take. We have a two part week–a counselor will be in on Wednesday to guide you through an AKCIS task all juniors have to complete. I’ll provide more details about what we’ll do with the 4 days we have in a later post.
9 & 11:
We will take a close look at your chapter 3 response paragraphs and grade them. We will then decide what to revise and what to keep. In addition, we will try to cover Unit 32, Lesson 10, and about 6 chapters of To Kill A Mockingbird.
More details to come…
