My name is Luke Almon and I am currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Eagle River High School. I am also currently pursuing my Ed.D in Administration and Leadership from Ball State University. I look forward bringing my research in academia to bear on my administrative practice.
I taught English at ERHS from 2008-2015 before transitioning into administration. From the start I was surrounded by professional, committed educators who enabled me to grow professionally beyond measure. I hope to continue to contribute to this highly professional, collaborative community from my new position in the AP’s office.
Looking back on my time in the classroom, I earned my National Board Certification in Language Arts in 2014. I am grateful to my colleagues who completed the certification process with me, and consistently helped me refine my work before submitting it.
As part of my classroom instruction, I was awarded the Alaska State Technology in Education Grant in 2011, nominated twice as a BP Teacher of Excellence, and was awarded the Chugiak-Eagle River Excellence in Education Award by the Chamber of Commerce in 2013.
Beyond the classroom, I have presented professional development at the district level in reading and writing instruction, as well as integration of technology in instruction. I am a fellow of the National Writing Project, and benefited from completing the National Writing Project’s Intensive Summer Institute, where I worked with teachers across Alaska to improve writing instruction.
Thanks for visiting.
